The Market Is Always Making a Decision..and..| Issue #2
If a recruiter or executive search firm landed on your LinkedIn profile today, would they see you as the inevitable choice for the next role you want?
One of the biggest misconceptions I see among executives is the belief that the market evaluates them only when they're actively interviewing.
It doesn't.
The market is making decisions about you every day.
Recruiters.
Executive search firms.
Board members.
Peers.
Senior leaders.
People in your network.
Every one of them is forming an impression.
Every interaction, conversation, and introduction contributes to an impression of who you are, what level you operate at, and whether you're someone they should remember when the right opportunity arises.
The challenge is that most executives assume the market sees them the way they see themselves.
It rarely does.
You know your experience, the complexity of the decisions you've made, the teams you've led, the challenges you've navigated, and the results you've delivered.
The market doesn't, plain and simple.
If a recruiter landed on your profile today, what would they conclude about you?
It only knows what it can interpret from the signals you're sending.
That's why two executives with remarkably similar backgrounds can have completely different career trajectories.
One is consistently approached for larger opportunities.
The other wonders why they're being overlooked.
The difference often isn't capability.
It's interpretation.
The market isn't rewarding the executive with the strongest résumé.
It's rewarding the executive it understands.
Once you understand that, the questions you ask yourself begin to change.
Instead of asking, "How do I become a stronger leader?" you begin asking a much more powerful question:
"What is the market concluding about me today?"
Because whether we realize it or not, the market is already answering that question.
If those answers aren't reflecting the executive you've already become, it's worth understanding why.
That's exactly the conversation we'll be having during The Inevitable Executive - my live workshop designed to help experienced executives understand how the market is interpreting their executive positioning and how to intentionally influence that interpretation, so they're prepared for what's next.
If that sounds like a conversation you need to have, I'd love for you to join the Priority Access waitlist for The Inevitable Executive. You'll receive your private invitation to register at the founding investment of $97 before it increases to $197.
